ACPS Graduate Scheme – Further Information

Person specification

You are someone who has recently graduated from an accredited training and is now working towards accreditation. You are in the process of establishing and developing your own private practice, and in a position to be able to offer reduced fee sessions on a part-time basis. The number of sessions offered would be flexible according to your availability, and the service need. You would welcome working within a consensual organisation operating as far as possible through co-operative management.

We are looking for graduates who are willing, interested and have experience in working with a broad range of clients both short term and longer term. Some experience of private practice is essential. You wish to engage with an organisation with a ‘public face’ and established reputation, and one that is committed to offering counselling and psychotherapy for people on a low income or benefit. As a Bristol-based service there is a requirement that Graduate Associates work within the central Bristol area.

We would also like to hear of any particular areas of expertise, specialities and professional interests you may have. We ask that Graduate Associates offer a reduced fee of £25-£35 per session, according to the client’s need. A one-off payment of a single-session fee is payable by the Graduate Associate to ACPS when the client attends the second session. There is a Graduate Associate joining fee of £35, to help cover administrative costs, to be paid annually. This sum, payable on joining is reviewed annually on 1st September.

Unfortunately, disabled access to 11 Orchard Street is limited.

All Graduate Associates

• must have their own professional insurance.

• are responsible for organising and paying for their own supervision

• are self-employed.

• must abide by the code of professional ethics set by their accrediting organisation
